Sustaining its activities with the purpose to supply high-quality and uninterrupted energy in all provinces that the Company serves, Başkent EDAŞ has been carrying out its operations in Karabük uninterruptedly since 2009, when the electricity distribution activities were transferred to the private sector.
Başkent EDAŞ invested TL 400 million in Karabük from 2009, when the electricity distribution activities were transferred to the private sector, until the end of 2021.
Carrying out its activities with the awareness on the significance of electricity at every step of the modern life, Başkent EDAŞ commissioned new investments as part of its activities in full compliance with the legislation, and also completed the maintenance works for the network and equipment.
Accordingly, the Company carried out maintenance works of approximately TL 34 million between 2017 and 2021 in addition to investments worth TL 400 million. Along with the maintenance works, 9,754 km of overhead/underground grid lines were maintained, while 11,846 equipment and grid components were rehabilitated.
The company, with its core responsibilities including the operation of the electricity distribution network, maintenance to avoid possible wear-outs, fault repair works due to natural events such as floods, heavy snow, storms or 3rd parties, and investments to meet the increasing energy demand, has strengthened Karabük since the date of the transfer.
- Length of the underground grid increased by 4 times, approximately 50,000 faults fixed
Başkent EDAŞ increased the length of the underground grid by 305% and the substation installed capacity by 80% to meet the requirements.
Accordingly, 491 transformers with an installed capacity of 179 megawatts, 408 kilometers of underground low voltage lines, 201 kilometers of underground medium voltage lines, 540 kilometers of overhead low voltage lines and 242 kilometers of overhead medium voltage line grid components were included to the electricity distribution grid in Karabük.
Carrying out the grid maintenance and fault processes with the same quality and devotion for 13 years, Başkent EDAŞ swiftly responded to 48,179 faults in Karabük to ensure energy supply and continuity.
- Nearly half a million customer demands met
The company sustained its investments to meet the increasing energy demand and prevent unscheduled outages due to faults with uncertain durations and timing.
Carefully planning the scheduled interruptions required for the Occupational Health and Safety of its site employees during the commissioning of the investments, Başkent EDAŞ shared the times and locations of the interruptions on its website 48 hours in advance so that the interruptions do not adversely affect its customers. The Company also informed its customers, who keep their contact and address information up to date, about the interruptions via text messages.
Başkent EDAŞ continues to serve with its 375 Call Center employees to assist its customers in all issues they may require including the scheduled and unscheduled outages.
Various channels developed for the customers, including 186 Call Center, Başkent 186 Mobile Application, baskentedas.com.tr Web Site, WhatsApp Hotline at 0 (312) 186 00 00 and social media channels, enabled Ayedaş to evaluate and meet the demands of a total of 490,005 applications.
