Proceeding with the pioneering technologies in the sector and people-oriented working principles, Başkent EDAŞ invested 29.6 million TL in Çankırı, a city with a population exceeding 200,000 and recognized with its mining, agriculture and livestock sectors, in the first half of 2025, while sustaining its maintenance and repair works.
As one of the Enerjisa Distribution Companies which implement sustainability projects with the vision of ‘A better future for all,’ Başkent EDAŞ sustained its maintenance, replacement, and investment efforts on 2,099 substations and 10,145-kilometer-long energy line to provide uninterrupted and high-quality energy service to more than 148,000 customers in Çankırı. As one of the 4 electricity distributions companies which achieved the highest amount of investment in 2024, Başkent EDAŞ sustained its efforts in digital transformation and actions to reduce its carbon footprint.
In line with its vision to have a better-lit city and to minimize adverse impacts of seasonal and geographical conditions, the company completed the maintenance works for a total of 554 lighting fixtures in Atkaracalar, Bayramören, Çerkeş, Eldivan, Ilgaz, Kızılırmak, Korgun, Kurşunlu, Orta, Şabanözü and Yapraklı districts. The maintenance works covered 987-km-long energy transmission line, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 47%, 14 distribution centers and 84 substations, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 87% in the first half of 2025. With the latest investments to supply uninterrupted and higher-quality energy to over 148,000 customers that the company serves, the company strengthened the infrastructure by installing 16.5-km-long cables and completing the installation works of 15 new lighting fixtures, 4 new electricity distribution panels and 2 new substations.
As the second electricity distribution company which employed the highest number of personnel in 2024 following Toroslar EDAŞ with more than 6,000 personnel, Başkent EDAŞ successfully achieved its targets set for the first half of 2025 with its operations.
Sustaining its efforts to establish a sustainable and better future, Başkent EDAŞ enhanced its measures to protect forest areas from wildfires in Çankırı, where over 25 percent of the city is covered with forests in terms of surface area and there is more than 9,900 square meters of forest per person.
The company, which completed the maintenance works on electricity distribution lines in the region, has accelerated the use of fire-risk-reducing materials and laid gravel or poured lean concrete under poles within forest areas.
Thanks to the ongoing and coordinated efforts of the company together with public institutions and organizations to combat possible wildfires in the region, Başkent EDAŞ supported the efforts through controlled power outages and put relentless efforts to identify and swiftly replace the damaged energy infrastructure.
