Başkent EDAŞ Continues to Strengthen the Energy Infrastructure in Ankara

Operating with its pioneering technologies and people-oriented approach, Başkent EDAŞ made nearly 940 million TL of investment for uninterrupted and high-quality energy in Ankara in the first half of 2025. Speeding up its maintenance, repair, and investment works, the company continued to integrate innovative technologies in its operations in Ankara, Türkiye’s capital city and the second largest city in terms of population.

As one of the Enerjisa Distribution Companies which implement sustainability projects with the vision of ‘A better future for all,’ Başkent EDAŞ sustains its efforts to provide uninterrupted and high-quality energy services to more than 3,276,000 subscribers.

As one of the 4 electricity distributions companies which achieved the highest amount of investment in 2024, Başkent EDAŞ pressed ahead with its maintenance, repair, and investment works at 22,300 substations and 68,630-kilometer-long energy lines in the first half of 2025 in its area of responsibility in Ankara, a city dominated by public and private sector which receives high amounts of migration due to commercial and industrial investments.

  • Strengthening the infrastructure in Ankara to ensure uninterrupted energy

In line with its vision to have a better-lit city and to minimize adverse impacts of seasonal and geographical conditions, Başkent EDAŞ ramped up its maintenance and repair works in Akyurt, Altındağ, Ayaş, Bala, Beypazarı, Çamlıdere, Çankaya, Çubuk, Elmadağ, Etimesgut, Gölbaşı, Güdül, Haymana, Kahramankazan, Kalecik, Kızılcahamam, Nallıhan, Polatlı, Pursaklar, Şereflikoçhisar and Sincan districts.

In the first half of 2025, the company completed maintenance works of 8,363 fixtures, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 36%; 4,005 km of cables, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 25%; 58 substations, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 7%; 125 electricity distribution panels, and 597 distribution centers, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 20%. As part of new investments, the company strengthened its energy infrastructure by installing 257-km-long cable line, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 30%; 706 fixtures, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 11%; 128 electricity distribution panels, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 27%; and 44 substations, corresponding to a year-on-year increase of 45%.

As the second electricity distribution company which employed the highest number of personnel in 2024 following Toroslar EDAŞ with more than 6,000 personnel, Başkent EDAŞ successfully achieved its targets set for 2025 with the maintenance, repair, and investment figures achieved.

  • Energy security to increase at Başkent thanks to recent technologies

Başkent EDAŞ and Ayedaş, which are Enerjisa Distribution Companies, commissioned contact voltage detection technology in order to ensure grid security and strengthen the infrastructure. As part of the field trials conducted in February and March 2025, an area of 230 kilometers in Ankara was scanned and a service procurement contract was signed for a period of 6 months with the USA-based company, Osmose. Whilst the new technology enables accurate detection of any possible contact voltages in the grid, field teams intervene in these possible detections in a fast and effective manner.

  • Customer-oriented service mentality enhances satisfaction

Focusing on digital transformation in order to make operational business processes more efficient, Enerjisa Distribution Companies sustain their efforts to maximize user satisfaction. Providing service 24/7, the company engages with customers via various channels, including www.baskentedas.com.tr, Web ChatVolt, Başkent 186 Mobile Application, WhatsApp Hotline and 186 Call Center. The company continues to support the residents of Ankara by swiftly responding to the demands received through social media.

Sustaining improvements in its performance on the WhatsApp channel which was commissioned as part of digital customer experience investments, Enerjisa Distribution Companies achieved a year-on-year improvement of 55% in the first response time in the first half of the year. A total of 41,728 calls were successfully addressed by bots utilizing the Digital Assistant ChatVolt, resulting in a record user satisfaction score of 4.15 out of 5.

Başkent EDAŞ, one of the three Enerjisa Distribution Companies in electricity distribution, together with AYEDAŞ and Toroslar EDAŞ, will continue its investments to strengthen the energy infrastructure in Ankara.
