Operating under the roof of Başkent EDAŞ and bringing many young talents in Turkish football, Başkent EDAŞ Sports Club continues to raise football players for the upper leagues with nearly 140 athletes who sweat through their jerseys. The club recently achieved significant success by transferring Mehmet Emir Aykan, a young talent raised by the club, to Gençlerbirliği Sports Club.

Başkent EDAŞ Sports Club, which offers an opportunity for young talents to develop themselves and realize their potentials, celebrates its 41st anniversary as one of the most established sport clubs in Ankara.
Maintaining its success in leagues in various age categories with the young talents it brought in Turkish football, Başkent EDAŞ Sports Club sustained its tradition of raising football players for the upper leagues by transferring Mehmet Emir Aykan, a young talent who has been sweating through his uniform since the age of 11, to Gençlerbirliği Sports Club.
A new starlet from Başkent EDAŞ Sport Club
Born in 2010 in Diyarbakır, Mehmet Emir Aykan was introduced to Başkent EDAŞ Sport Club in 2022 when his father was appointed to a position in Ankara. The young talent, who has stood out in a short period of time with his successes during training, began wearing Başkent EDAŞ uniform when he was 11 years old, and he has not taken it off for a long while. Wearing the team captain armband in U13 and U14 teams, Mehmet Emir Aykan also experienced championship twice. Moreover, playing in U15 which is 1-year upper group from his age, Aykan won another championship and added another one to his achievements at a young age.
Playing in 60 official matches in his last season, Mehmet Emir Aykan showed a rare performance by scoring 20 goals although he has been playing on the defense line as a stopper. And this successful performance put him onto the transfer list of professional teams. Being followed up by the youth setups of important clubs of Turkish football, Aykan was transferred to Gençlerbirliği as a result of the agreements made by the clubs.

Operating under the roof of Başkent EDAŞ which is one of the 3 distribution companies under Enerjisa Distribution Companies, Başkent EDAŞ Sports Club’s President and Enerjisa Enerji Chief Information Technologies Mehmet Fırat assessed the transfer of the young footballer and the successful performance of the club.
Mehmet Fırat stated: “At Başkent Edaş Sports Club, we compete in 6 age categories from U-13 to U-18 with nearly 140 athletes and we have achieved significant successes in tournaments in Ankara as well as nationwide. This year we won another cup with the championship of our U14 team. And there are young talents who have been raised in our youth setup which we brought in Turkish football behind our success of so many years. Many successful players who had worn Başkent EDAŞ Sports Club jersey, now play in the upper leagues, particularly in the Super League, Spor Toto 1st League, TFF 2nd League. With the transfer of Mehmet Emir Aykan to Gençlerbirliği, we once again proved the strength and significance of our youth setup. We will continue to win new cups and raise new stars in the following periods.”
